A Long Eaton woman has been charged and sentenced following a spate of shop thefts in the town centre.

Chantelle Monk from Acton Road, was initially handed a suspended sentence at Derbyshire Magistrates Court on Tuesday 11th April, but subsequently returned to Long Eaton  to steal items from a grocery store on Cross Street where she also assaulted staff.

Ms Monk was located later the same day and charged assault on an Emergency Worker.

Police officers from the Local Safer Neighbourhood Team have offered their thanks to members of the public who assisted PC Bates whilst Monk was being detained on Long Eaton Market Place, but have expressed a wish for a man known only as ‘Geoff’ to make contact in order for a more formal word of thanks to be passed on.
