Erewash MP Maggie Throup has this week taken delivery of her annual Halloween Safety Cards, which are back by popular demand with a fresh new design for 2023.

The free card, which can be displayed in windows to deter trick or treaters, will again be distributed across Erewash for local residents to pick up and use throughout the rest of October.

Commenting on the launch of this year’s campaign, Maggie said: “I am delighted to be able to offer my free Halloween Safety Cards again this year and have already been inundated with requests from local residents enquiring how they can get hold of one.

“Halloween has increasingly become a big event in the UK, with more and more families partaking in trick or treating. This can be huge fun for many, however for some, especially those who are elderly or vulnerable, it can be a really distressing time of year.

“Therefore, these Safety Cards, which politely ask trick or treaters not to call, are a simple but effective way of giving Erewash residents the choice of whether they want to take part or not.”

Maggie and her team will be out and about in both Ilkeston and Long Eaton Market Places over the coming weeks handing out the Halloween Safety Cards. The card will also be available in local shops, town halls and libraries for residents to collect and a printable version can now be downloaded from Maggie’s website

They are also available upon request by contacting Maggie’s Community Office on either 0115 930 0521 or maggie.throup.mp @ parliament.uk.
