Baby Basics, based in Long Eaton, is holding an Open Morning on Thursday 27th June from 9:30am to 11:30am to mark five years of operations.

In that time, they have provided over 660 Moses basket packages to new mums across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.  To celebrate, the open morning offers visitors the chance to see how the Moses basket packages are made and to have some cake and fizz.  Donations of items to go into the baskets will be accepted.

Baby Basics is a volunteer-led project aiming to support new mothers and families who are struggling to meet the financial and practical burden of looking after a new baby. Baby Basics started in Sheffield in the spring of 2009, but there is now an ever increasing network of Baby Basics centres across the country each staffed by a committed team of volunteers, and Long Eaton has its very own centre.

The organisation provides much needed essentials and equipment to mothers and families who are unable to provide these items for themselves; including but not limited to teenage mums, people seeking asylum and women fleeing domestic abuse and trafficking.
