Over 100 new affordable homes have been brought to Erewash by housing association Futures Housing Group and leading partnerships developer Lovell. Futures and Lovell gathered last week to celebrate the almost completion of the 109 homes off Bennett Street, Long Eaton. Use of SmartWater technology for domestic abuse victims extended

More victims of stalking and domestic abuse in Derbyshire are to be offered SmartWater marking kits to help keep them safe. Derbyshire Police began using the forensic marking technology in October 2023 as part of a trial aimed at protecting high risk victims in two areas of the county. Derbyshire Police officials have issued a warning after reports were received of calls being made on the afternoon of Monday 26th October 2026, using a 'number spoofing' technique, whereby the fraudster changes the number displayed on people's phones when the call comes through. None of these calls - from a number starting with 01773 and ending in 215 - have been made from Derbyshire Police officers or staff. Shoplifter wore wig to try and disguise himself

A prolific shoplifter wore a wig in an ill-fated attempt to disguise his identity while he stole meat from an Ilkeston store. Warren Medcroft donned the long brown wig when he stole £44.70 worth of mince meat, beef steaks and beef burgers from the One Stop store in Nottingham Road on 4th October.
