Police officers in Ilkeston are appealing for video footage to help tackle the issue of anti-social driving in the town. Man in hospital after collision following chase

A man has suffered serious injuries following a collision during a police pursuit. Officers had been pursuing a Volkswagen Golf which had failed to stop on the A6007 in Heanor just after 12.15pm on Tuesday 8th September. As the Golf reached Hardy Barn in Shipley, travelling towards Ilkeston, it was in collision with a VW T-Cross travelling in the opposite direction. Ilkeston man jailed for sexual abuse of children

An Ilkeston man has been jailed for more than two decades for sexually abusing three children. Ralph Fletcher, 35, of Barclay Court, was found guilty of 14 sexual offences against the children during a trial in May this year. An 18-year old man has been arrested in Ilkeston on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and possession of class A drugs. On Monday 24th August 2026, a Derbyshire Police call-handler received a call from a member of the public raising concerns that a male seen in on Bath Street appeared to be in possession of a weapon. Steps are being taken by Derbyshire County Council to temporarily limit the number of fridges and freezers collected at its household waste recycling centres. Increased demand has led to four Derbyshire NHS clinics being restricted to “appointment only” for several hours a day, in a move dubbed “disappointing and sad” by an MP.
