Derbyshire Police have issued an appeal for help from the public to trace the owners of a number of tools which have been recovered from across Erewash and South Derbyshire.

The items (pictured) have been recovered during an operation to target thieves who stole from vans on more than 130 occasions.  Items include a Makita hammer drill, a De Walt nail gun and a Makita grinder.

Officers have also found a number of other tools which do not have distinguishing marks on them and are now looking to reunite the items with their owners, adding that proof of ownership must be provided before they can be claimed.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the thefts, but they were subsequently released on bail pending further inquiries.

Anyone wishing to claim the items as their property is being urged to contact Derbyshire Police on any of the following non-emergency routes, quoting incident reference: 25000305396.
