Get ready for even more fun in the sun! Erewash Museum will be opening the Beach from Wednesday 27th May this year, giving everyone more time to enjoy Ilkeston’s mini seaside.
That’s not all – there will be plenty of exciting entertainment at the museum this May half-term including the Circus on Wednesday 27th May with aerial feats, circus tricks and bubbles.
Animal lovers won’t want to miss the Animal Expedition on Thursday 28th May. You’ll find Birds of Prey, animal handling activities and bubbles. The booking link for animal handling is coming soon, so look out for it on Erewash Museum’s social media pages.
Expect some traditional entertainment on the final day, Friday 29 May, with twists and turns from Punch and Judy and balloon modelling in the garden.
Lead Member for Community Engagement, Councillor Becca Everett said: “We’ve seen how much visitors value our little haven at the beach, so we thought we’d open the beloved attraction a bit early this year. Entry to the beach is free, and it will be open from 11am to 4pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. During school holidays it will also be open on Wednesdays.
“We’ve also organised a whole range of activities at Erewash Museum during the school break to help young members of our community try all sorts of interests and support their development. We truly can’t wait for the summer fun to begin!”
There’s more – with so much happening this summer, the museum is introducing their very own beach hut. Visitors will be able to get refreshments, ice-creams and children’s lunch boxes without having to miss any of the action.
The museum is looking for volunteers to help with serving the new hut. Full training will be provided, with hours flexible to suit. There will be lots to see and do in this brand-new volunteering role. To find out more or register your interest please email museum @ erewash.gov.uk
Erewash Museum welcomes 20,000 people a year. It is normally open from 11am to 4pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays – and is free to visit. During school holidays it also opens on Wednesdays. Refreshments are available at Dalby House Café.
