Proactive work by officers from the Long Eaton Police team have led to incidents of anti-social behaviour in the town being efficiently dealt with.

On Thursday 11th May, officers were involved in work around the Library on Tamworth Road as well as Broad Street after calls were received from members of the public.

In one incident, the report detailed that a male and female were behaving suspiciously, causing alarm in the park area outside the library. PCSOs Cooper and Hawksworth responded and found two people matching the descriptions who were drinking from tins of strong cider.  The drinks were poured away before the street drinkers left the area quickly.

Within an hour, a member of the community reported that a man was thought to be inebriated and had become unconscious in bushes near the library.  The PCSOs responded by returning to the scene at which they had left only a short time before.  The safety of the individual was assessed and communication eventually established.   At this point, the man became aggressive and threatening to the officers, so two PCs were called in as back up.  The individual was subsequently arrested for committing a public order offence.

Officers from the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Team have offered thanks to members of the public for reporting incidents to them.
