Arrest made after Police officer assaulted in Long Eaton following response to e-bike and moped anti-social behaviour

A man has been arrested in Kirk Hallam after a joint operation in response to an incident in Long Eaton in which a police officer was assaulted.

At around 8:15pm on Wednesday 9th September, an on-duty officer attended the scene at at a drive through restaurant on Waverley Street to investigate the matter.

Whilst detaining a young male on an e-bike, the officer suffered injuries after an assault to the face, arms and legs.

The male then made off in the direction of another drive-through restaurant on the opposite side of the road on the Cross Street Retail Park, leaving behind his e-bike, mobile phone and right trainer.

The officer was able to recover the e-bike, but an appeal was then launched to track down the individual concerned.

After he was identified, a combined operation between officers from both the Long Eaton and Ilkeston Safer Neighbourhood Teams led to the arrest of a male at his home address in Kirk Hallam.

A search led to a quantity of class B drugs being found. In addition to an assault charge, he was also arrested for possession with intent to supply and was subsequently bailed further inquiries.
