Award-winning Erewash Sound goes for yet more radio industry honours with newcomer nomination

Sunday Breakfast 'Arts & Toast' presenter, Kirsty Corbett - 2025 Community Radio Awards nominee

Having picked up a number of radio industry and business awards over the last few years, Erewash Sound is hoping for more success after one of its newest presenters was nominated as a finalist in the 2025 Community Radio Awards.

This year's finalists have been announced after hundreds of entries were whittled down by judges from across the sector.

2025 is the 10th anniversary of the Community Radio Awards - a significant milestone by itself, but this year also marks 20 years since the launch of community radio in the UK.

This year’s awards have seen the highest number of entries for a few years from across the UK, reflecting the continued growth, innovation, and impact of community radio.

From compelling storytelling and local journalism to creative programming and community engagement, the finalists represent the very best of what community radio has to offer.

Rebecca Steers, Chair of the Community Radio Awards, said: “This year is not just about recognising the outstanding work across our sector over the past year it’s also a time to reflect on two decades of community radio in the UK. The quality and diversity of entries this year have been truly inspiring, and we’re thrilled to celebrate the dedication and creativity of our finalists.”

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 25th October 2025 in Bradford, following the National Community Radio Conference, organised by the UK Community Radio Network. The event promises to be a vibrant celebration of the sector, bringing together volunteers, presenters, producers, and supporters from across the country.

The Yorkshire tones amongst the entry from Erewash Sound presenter Kirsty Corbett have been recognised.

The Sunday Breakfast Show presenter lines up against representatives from four other community radio stations in the 'Newcomer of the Year' category.

The Community Radio Awards continue to be supported by headline sponsor Aiir, who return for their sixth consecutive year, championing excellence and innovation in the sector.

Super Early Bird Tickets for the conference and awards are available from communityradio2025.eventbrite.co.uk
