Billion pound investment opportunities showcased in Derbyshire

Invest in Derbyshire is launching a new campaign to grow investment in the county’s economy, showcasing a portfolio of development opportunities worth billions of pounds.

Working with district and borough councils, Derbyshire County Council’s Invest in Derbyshire campaign will be launched at an event on Thursday 7th May at Toyota’s Burnaston car manufacturing plant – one of the most successful inward investments in the county’s history.

More than 100 investors, developers, businesses and local government partners are expected to attend the event, which marks the start of a concerted effort to build on Derbyshire’s reputation as a home for industries critical to the future of the regional and national economy.

The campaign focusses on three themes – Derbyshire as a gateway for innovation, the development of its numerous industrial heritage opportunities, and how its powering a prosperous and cleaner future. Within that, the campaign will support industries such as advanced manufacturing, quarrying and the visitor economy.

Councillor Alan Graves, Leader of Derbyshire County Council and Cabinet Member for Strategic Leadership, said: “Derbyshire is at the heart of the UK economy, offering businesses a powerful combination of central location, exceptional connectivity and a globally recognised industrial base. With strong skills and a culture of innovation, companies based here gain the reach, resilience and supply chain access needed to grow with confidence.

“With more than 30 strategic sites and billions of pounds of opportunity across advanced manufacturing, logistics and the visitor economy, Derbyshire – through Invest in Derbyshire – supports investors from concept to delivery with strong partnerships and a proven, collaborative approach. Bringing investment and funding into our county supports our work to maintain a strong local economy with good jobs, backing our commitment to ensure Derbyshire is a great place to live and work. The centrepiece of the campaign is a new investment prospectus which details investment and development opportunities in all of the county’s districts and boroughs including Erewash.

The campaign also features a series of films of companies from across the county explaining why Derbyshire is the best place to do business.

Invest in Derbyshire will also have a strong presence at the country’s largest inward investment event in May – UKREiiF in Leeds – alongside district and borough partners and the East Midlands Combined County Authority.
