A raid on a Long Eaton property resulted in the the discovery of a cannabis grow.

The action was taken on Friday 27th June when representatives from the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Team found 50 plants within a building on Tamworth Road in the town.

All were seized as part of a related investigation.

Sgt Buckland said: "This was a great example of proactive policing and teamwork all aimed at keeping yourselves safe. Cannabis grows are not harmless. They often involve unsafe electrical setups which can lead to house fires, and are frequently linked to organised crime groups, including foreign nationals exploiting vulnerable individuals.

"These grows can attract violent rival gangs  seeking to rob them, placing your community at risk. This is why we need your help. If you notice windows constantly covered, a strong, sweet smell, lights on at unusual hours and excessive condensation on windows."

Anyone suspecting a cannabis grow is being run in their area is being encouraged to contact Police on the non-emergency number 101 as soon as possible.
