Chamber responds to tariffs applied to US imports 030425

Following US President Donald Trump’s announcement that 10% tariffs would be imposed on all items imported into the country from the UK, East Midlands Chamber has given its reaction.

East Midlands Chamber Head of International Trade Lucy Granger said: “After this being trailed for several weeks, we now know what we’re dealing with, and we will start to see the impact of these 10% duties over the next few weeks and months on specific sectors and individual businesses. 

"In the meantime, the Chamber is here to support businesses and gain understanding of what these tariffs mean for them. We can help businesses explore other markets and help protect their foreign exchange while we wait to see how things unfold. “What we now need to see is the UK government keep up the pace in conversations with the US to ensure that UK businesses are supported and that ultimately we can continue to trade with the US, going forward.”
