Derby BID team issues a statement after City Bank incident

Brad Worley - Derby BID Team Manager

Following the incident at Lloyds Bank in St Peters Street, Derby on Tuesday 6th May, a representative from the Derby BID team has issued a statement.

Brad Worley, BID Manager for St Peters Quarter Business Improvement District said: “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic incident that took place on Tuesday at Lloyds Bank on St Peter’s Street, in which a man lost his life.

“Our thoughts at this unimaginably difficult time are first and foremost with the victim’s family and loved ones. We echo the words of Council Leader Cllr Nadine Peatfield in expressing our heartbreak and concern for the community.

“St Peters Quarter BID will be working closely with Derby City Council and Derbyshire Police to support their ongoing investigation and ensure the safety and reassurance of businesses, employees, and visitors to the area.

“While police have confirmed this is being treated as an isolated incident, we understand that such events can cause understandable distress and concern. Our thoughts are also with the staff at Lloyds Bank, who faced an incredibly traumatic situation and showed courage in the most difficult of circumstances.

“We would like to thank Derbyshire Police and the emergency services for their swift response and professionalism in managing such a difficult and distressing situation. Their continued presence and reassurance are greatly valued by our community

“We remain committed to supporting our business community and residents through this difficult time. Our BID Rangers will be present in the area to provide visible support and assistance in any way they can as they did yesterday.

"We encourage anyone who may have witnessed anything or has concerns to speak with the police or reach out to us directly for guidance.

"As a community, we will continue to stand together in the face of tragedy and continue our work for a safer, stronger city centre for all.”
