A statement detailed the existence of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 which outlines roles and responsibilities of the police and partners in tackling such issues. It aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area.
For those that are a victim of, or concerned about alcohol abuse in the community, the act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour.
These include:
The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and anti-social behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account.
A spokesperson said directed anyone who needs help to address an alcohol problem can find more information from the NHS or FRANK, whilst those who have experienced the issue, or have information regarding an incident is being asked to report it via non-emergency reporting tools or by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
