Police officers from the Ilkeston Rural Safer Neighbourhood Team have carried out an operation in two borough villages as part of work to enforce three elements of Derbyshire Constabulary’s ‘Fatal Four’ campaign.
Behaviours are those that cause death and serious injury on our roads – speed, failure to use seat belts properly, drink/drug driving and using mobile phones – all whilst driving.
The team carried out speed checks and were looking for motorists using their mobile phone whilst driving and not wearing a seatbelt. The checks which were carried out on Tuesday 6th January were carried out in Little Eaton and Breadsall.
Words of advice were given to those who were stopped.
A statement from Derbyshire Police said: “It is important to educate rather than simply enforce as this method changes behaviours and will make all of those we spoke to today think differently when driving in future”, and added that the team will continue to carry out these checks throughout the rural beat area.
