Erewash Borough Council is appealing for help this festive season to reduce rough sleeping across the borough.
Due to the pandemic, this winter will be even more challenging as there will be no night shelters across Derbyshire to provide overnight accommodation for those sleeping rough.
The council is reaching out to residents and asking people to contact the council-funded Derbyshire Outreach Team run by the P3 charity if they see anyone sleeping rough in Erewash.
This can be done online at p3charity.org/DOT or by free phone 0808 196 8199. The outreach team can then find them somewhere warm and safe to stay.
Councillor Val Clare, Lead Member for Community Engagement, said: The council is committed to tackling homelessness, and this year we urge you to join with us and report any incidences of rough sleeping. The pandemic has been particularly hard on those without the safety and comforts that we all too often take for granted. It is only by working together that we can help end rough sleeping in Erewash.
