Officers from the Ilkeston Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team have issued a statement after receiving an increase in the number of reports of fly-tipping in and around their rural beat area.

The problems covering Breadsall, Morley and Dale Abbey, amongst others, appear to have been on the rise since rules changes around the use of regional recycling centres.

A statement emphasised that fly-tipping is an illegal activity and appealed to residents within the rural community to remain vigilant and call the Police using 999 to report any crimes in progress, including to report as much information as possible, such as vehicle registration and make and model details.

There was also a request to report any sites at which fly-tipping has been carried out to Erewash Borough Council Environmental services, details of which are available on their website at erewash.gov.uk.
