Ilkeston police issue warning over scam gardener leaflets

Officers from the Ilkeston Safer Neighbourhood Policing team have issued a warning to Erewash residents to beware over a scam trader using leaflets to target the elderly and vulnerable.

A statement said that the leaflet mimics a genuine company - Ashlea Tree Services - but which is not the same.

PCSO Beardall has issued a warning that people should not be fooled, and that whilst works have been carried out at addresses, it is reportedly of exceedingly poor quality and with excessive charges being made to customers.  

Trading Standards officers have been made aware.

The statement also said that residents should never commission anyone to carry out work without a contract and relevant receipts on completion, adding that upfront costs can sometimes be an indicator that it might be a scam, but if unsure, to look into the Trusted Trader Scheme within Derbyshire.
