Joint investigation launched over animal cruelty in Long Eaton

Police officers from the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Team have launched a joint investigation with the RSPCA after receiving reports and footage from social media showing a number of individuals who appear to be causing harm to a cat.

The reports came in on Thursday 9th March and are thought to regarding an incident in the area.  The animal involved appeared to be a tabby, which was wearing a collar, and while the footage shows now visible injuries were caused, enquiries are ongoing with local vets to establish its identity.

Anyone who owns a cat in the area which, in any way, matches the description, or has had an animal return to them in a distressed state and/or with injuries which cannot be accounted for, is being asked to contact Police on the non-emergency number 101, via the Derbyshire Police website or social media.

Anyone with any information about the incident is also being asked to contact Police via any of the same routes or via Crimestoppers in confidence on-line or by phone.
