Although speed limits were lowered on the A6096 between Spondon and Kirk Hallam within the last few years, motorists faced extensive delays on 22nd January when two roads were closed following a collision.
Derbyshire Police took to social media shortly before 12noon on Wednesday 22nd January to state that both Ladywood Road and Cat & Fiddle Lane were both closed, with the incident affecting the route between Dale Abbey and Ilkeston.
An hour later, the extent of delays was evidenced by online road mapping which showed extensive delays on both carriageways on the main road on the Kirk Hallam side of Cat & Fiddle Lane.
A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police warned motorists and other road users that the road was expected to be closed for some time whilst recovery and investigation work was carried out but no further information has since been released about the cause of the accident nor the condition of those involved. The road reopened around 2:15pm on the same day.
