Maggie joins Long Eaton Scouts for St George’s Day celebrations

Maggie Throup, Member of Parliament for Erewash, joined Long Eaton Scouts for their St George’s Day celebrations.

To celebrate England’s national day, the Scouts from Long Eaton, Sawley and Breaston paraded, with flags, through West Park to Trent College.

Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers also got the opportunity to make their own dragon and witnessed a re-enactment of the story of St George and the Dragon.

Maggie said: “I would like to thank Long Eaton Scouts for inviting me to their St George’s Day celebrations.

“Dragon making, followed by the re-enactment of the story of St George and the Dragon was lots of fun. It was a very different way to celebrate the Patron Saint for England and was a great activity for all ages.

“The celebrations brought the entire scout community together and I would like to congratulate everyone involved in making the day a brilliant success.”
