
Procedures for a major incident have been put into place in Ilkeston Town Centre after a report of a stabbing at around 12noon on Monday.
A police cordon was put into place near to the Scala Cinema just off the Market Place. A helicopter has also been in seen above the town centre. A male victim was found lying close to the cinema at Pimlico which has been closed as a result of the incident.
A statement from Ilkeston Safer Neighbourhood Team said that the victim had sustained two stab wounds and had been taken to hospital. His exact condition is not yet known.
Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing but no further details are available from them at this time. Anyone with any information about the incident is being asked to contact Police as soon as possible.
