A local radio presenter has come up with a novel way of keeping listeners and locals entertained each day throughout the Coronavirus lockdown.

Lewis Allsopp, presenter at Erewash Sound, based in Cotmanhay, just outside Ilkeston, can be seen live via the radio station Facebook page, hosting a 10-question general knowledge quiz at 7:30pm each weekday evening from home.

Radio station listeners, often joined by other presenters, pit their wits against each other, plus friends and family for the interactive quiz which only lasts around 15 minutes.

Participants can interact via a chat-box, with answers from the previous night given out before the daily round gets underway.  Answers can then be submitted by e-mail ahead of the competition on the following day.

There are no prizes, and those taking part are encouraged to use their grey matter only to try and top the daily league table, although everyone is given a shout out.

Lewis said: “I think it’s important, as we are all told to stay at home, and away from friends and family, that we explore new ways of connecting people in our community – something that Erewash Sound has always been great at doing.”

It’s good to have fun and some healthy competition, and if it helps pass 15 minutes for a few people in a difficult day, then we’ve done what we set out to do”.

The quiz can be accessed at www.facebook.com/erewashsound.
