Real Life Options is an organisation building services from a base in Ilkeston. First established in 1992, and with a head office in Knottingley, West Yorkshire, the lead organisation was set up to support and empower people with learning disabilities and autism to have more choice and greater control over their lives.
Over the last three decades, Real Life Options has grown to become a national provider of social support, and to support people across the UK to develop their independence and achieve their potential.
The organisation is currently building 20 Supported Living Apartments in Cotmanhay, including 12 apartments and 8 bungalows forming a courtyard, and staffing facilities. The 12 apartments will cater for adults with learning & physical difficulties. The hope is that the facility will be available during early July 2022.
To assist with plans, a fundraising venture is being planned in the Cotmanhay area, with a group of dedicated staff members from Real life Options, other local charities and local business working together to raise money for a local foodbank in Cotmanhay.
The plan is to walk 20 miles, 50,000 steps from Cotmanhay and around Ilkeston for the people support as well as everyone living in the community who might be struggling in any way and the appeal is for members of the public to join them.
