Routine traffic stop leads to chase, drug and vehicle seizure but offenders run

A routine stop for police officers from the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood team resulted in more than just a routine process to follow.

The driver of a vehicle was ordered to stop on Stanley Street in Long Eaton. Officers then approached the car and asked for the driver's details, however, they decided that they didn't want to be involved with the request and subsequently made off at speed.

A pursuit then followed but when police officers caught up with the vehicle, the driver and two occupants had run off.

Nevertheless, the vehicle was searched under Section 23 of the 'Misuse of Drugs' Act where items linked to drugs were seized along with the vehicle itself.

An investigation was subsequently launched.
