Trust launches college to inspire learning through football

Derby County Community Trust has announced the launch of its own college designed to empower young people across Derby and Derbyshire.

Derby County Community Trust College will serve as the provider of all education programmes delivered through the trust, offering a diverse range of academic and vocational pathways tailored to individual needs, interests and locations.

It will deliver its programmes across a network of partner schools and education hubs throughout Derbyshire, ensuring that learners from a wide range of communities can access high-quality education and training.

Key delivery sites include the Racecourse Hub in Derby, Buxton and Leek College, University of Derby, Friesland School in Sandiacre, and Lees Brook Academy.

Education manager Michael Noon said: “Derby County Community Trust College represents a significant step forward in our commitment to education and community development.

“By combining high-quality learning with high level football coaching and real-world experience, we’re creating opportunities that go far beyond the classroom.”

With a mission to inspire learning through the power of football, the college integrates academic study with playing football regularly.

Students can benefit from access to A-Levels, Level 1–3 sports courses, university degrees in partnership with the University of South Wales, and a 12-week employability programme for those aged 16 to 24.

The college is open to learners of all backgrounds and abilities, with programmes designed to support progression into employment, further education, or careers in sport and coaching.

Post-16 students will also have the chance to represent the trust in football teams, training three times a week and playing competitive fixtures every Wednesday in the EFL CEFA League.
