Major repair scheme for Harrington Bridge over the River Trent

Major structural repairs to Harrington Bridge which crosses the River Trent at Sawley will start in August, as part of Derbyshire County Council’s £70 million capital programme, which is delivering safer, stronger and more resilient highways and infrastructure across the county. Severn Trent says it doesn’t want to be “killjoys” by issuing a hosepipe ban – but is advising people to use water wisely. Fined HMO owner’s £1.1k bill for ignoring borough council

An Erewash Borough Council investigation into an HMO – house of multiple occupation – has seen its owner taken to court and ordered to pay £1,145 in fines and costs. The authority launched its prosecution of landlord Mahmood Rahemtulla after he ignored a request to supply documentation about tenancy agreements and rent deposits at the five-bed house in Long Eaton. Southbound closure for Tamworth Road traffic

Drivers using a busy route through one of Erewash’s towns face detours until December – as it becomes one-way while contractors crack on with giving Long Eaton a huge £10million revamp. Erewash commuter route reopens

The reopening of a major Derbyshire commuter route which has been closed for a year has been welcomed as a win for residents – despite the extended delay. The Government has revealed the names for the new Derbyshire councils, which will be formed after the current 10 authorities are all scrapped.
