Thanks have been offered to members of the public for help in providing information which has assisted in securing and executing warrants through the courts. The message has been issued after a combined operation between Ilkeston and Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team officials, who were supported by those from the Dog Unit to apply a drugs warrant at two addresses in Ilkeston on 24th August 2026. Community groups awarded nearly £228k in funding

Erewash Borough Council has provided £227,955 in the first round of a new grant scheme, targeted at voluntary and community groups in the borough. In recognition of the fantastic work done by organisations in Erewash, the council set up Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Sustainability and Activation grants, which allowed local groups to apply for between £5,000 to £50,000 so they can set their sights on bigger projects. MP describes NHS clinic “appointment only” restrictions as “disappointing and sad”

Increased demand has led to four Derbyshire NHS clinics being restricted to “appointment only” for several hours a day, in a move dubbed “disappointing and sad” by an MP. Opening hours at four urgent treatment centres in Buxton, Ilkeston, Matlock and Ripley are to remain the same at 8am to 8pm but walk-ins will now be restricted for the tail end of each day, with appointments required. Long-heralded plans for a new M1 junction in Derbyshire have the backing of the Prime Minister. Rail travellers suffer major weekend disruption due to power outage

Rail travellers faced significant disruption at the weekend with CrossCountry left to encourage passengers to check before making journeys, after a power outage affected its control centre. Police respond with statement after increase in anti-social driving incidents in Ilkeston

Police officers in Ilkeston have responded having been made aware of an increase in instances of anti-social driving in the town. A statement said that issues, already known to affect Chalons Way, had become worse, but that surrounding areas were also being affected. Local residents are being encouraged to report anti-social driving seen occurring in the area. A borough bus service has been saved following the intervention of the regional Mayor, Erewash MP and two local councillors, including a former borough Mayor.
