03/04/2018: Horticulture and Arboriculture students at Derby College’s Broomfield Hall in Morley have brought an outdoor area at Cotmanhay Junior School back to life for the benefit of local children.
19/03/2018: Pupils of all ages showed off their moves at a Dance Festival organised by Erewash School Sport Partnership.
28/02/2018: In a further attempt to help boost employment levels locally, Erewash MP Maggie Throup has announced plans to launch two Jobs Clinics in Cotmanhay and Petersham.
23/02/2018: Plans for a new residential care home in Cotmanhay will be drawn up by Derbyshire County Council.  On Thursday 22nd February, the Cabinet agreed to keep Hazelwood Home for Older People open while it builds a replacement.
13/02/2018: After a five month campaign during which Erewash MP Maggie Throup took the issue to the very top of Government, Derbyshire County Council has announced that Hazelwood Care Home in Cotmanhay will remain open indefinitely until a brand new facility is built for the community.
26/01/2018: Officials from Derbyshire Police have released a picture of a group of men wanted for questioning about the theft of a wallet from a cyclist.
13/05/2010: Two new Neighbourhood Watches were set up on the evening of Monday 10th May. A total of 13 members formed a watch for Skeavingtons Lane, Cotmanhay, whilst another was also established covering nearby Barlborough Road and Brands Close, which has 20 members. 05/02/2010: Ilkeston and District 50+ forum is seeking new members. The group has regular discussions, is run by the people of the area, and works with local authories and organisations to give the over 50s a local voice. 05/02/2010: The 4th Ilkeston Scout Group holds activities at Christ Church Hall on Vicarage Street, Cotmanhay, every Wednesday during term time. A number of adult volunteering opportunities are available whilst supporting Beavers (aged 6-8) from 5:30pm - 6:30pm, Cubs (aged 8-10) from 6:45pm - 8:15pm and Scouts (aged 10-14) from 7:30pm - 9:00pm.
