A deadline is fast approaching for landlords of town centre eyesores, which follows on from warnings issued by the borough council last month.

Previously, authority representatives carried out an assessment and wrote to the owners of the most run-down sites in Long Eaton and Ilkeston, requiring them to respond by 30th June.

They were warned that the borough council will take enforcement action against them if they do not address the issues identified, such as broken windows, graffiti, vegetation, peeling paintwork and plasterwork.

Cllr Curtis Howard, Lead Member for Town Centres, Regeneration and Planning, said: “We are taking strong action against neglectful landlords by issuing a clean-up order, and if works are not carried out, we will do the job ourselves, and send them the bill.”
