Christmas bin collection and real tree recycling dates in Erewash

Erewash Borough Council has confirmed the details surrounding refuse collection dates over Christmas and the New Year period, specifically relating to bins and the collection of real Christmas trees for recycling as well as looking ahead to the restart of garden waste and the start of food waste collections.
For those who are usually due a collection on a Thursday or Friday, there will be no waste and recycling collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.
All other days during this time will see bins collected as normal.
Collections Day Changes:
- Christmas Day (Thursday 25th December) will take place on Monday 22nd December 2025.
- Boxing Day (Friday 26th December) will take place on Tuesday 23rd December 2025.
- New Years Day (Thursday 1st January) will take place Monday 29th December 2025.
The authority has asked residents to ensure that they always put bins out by 7am as collection times can vary.
A collection point for real Christmas trees will be available at West Park, Long Eaton and Rutland Sports Park, Ilkeston from Tuesday 23rd December to Sunday 11th January.
Information on signing up for garden waste collections 2026-27 will be released early next year.
