Erewash Museum will be closing its doors to the public for a short period whilst refurbishments take place to improve some of its spaces and give visitors better experiences.
The Museum will be closed to the public from Saturday 21st June and refurbishments will take place until mid-July, ahead of the Museum’s popular beach and summer events.
The works will increase the museum’s Dalby House café area alongside a change to the reception and retail space, helping to enhance existing heritage features and allow the reception area to change layout dependant on the requirements, providing a more welcoming and versatile space for visitors.
The borough council has appointed Ilkeston firm Limetree Build LTD who will be undertaking the refurbishment project for the authority over the next few weeks. The council has been able to allocate funding received from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) to enable these improvements. Funding from UK SPF will also improve the Museum Lally Gallery and fund events later in the year.
Erewash Borough Council’s Deputy Leader Becca Everett, who is the Lead Member for Community Engagement, said: “Erewash Museum provides engaging activities for people of all ages, and these works will add to its warm and welcoming atmosphere. We look forward to bringing the valuable experiences the museum offers to even more visitors.”
