Introducing Derby's first Grief Disco: an afternoon of healing through Dance music

This innovative event is designed to provide a space for healing, connection, and expression through the power of music and dance.

Attendees are invited to join a unique gathering that offers solace and community to those experiencing any form of grief.

Grief can be an isolating experience, often leaving those affected feeling alone. However, Leah Sian Davies and Georgina Jones, the creators of Grief Disco, believe in the transformative power of dance music and movement. Both have faced significant loss in their lives and have found solace in coming together to dance, find joy, and connect with others.

Their vision for Grief Disco is to create a positive and uplifting environment where individuals can unite in their shared experiences.

Host, Nell Brooker, is a funeral celebrant and facilitator of holistic community events. Nell was inspired to hear about Grief Disco in Wales and is keen to share the event to support people in the East Midlands.

What to Expect
Grief Disco will feature a vibrant mix of activities aimed at honouring and expressing grief in a supportive and inclusive atmosphere:

• Special Guest DJ: Lucas Brooks will be on the decks creating an uplifting musical experience designed to move the body and soul
• Creative Expression: In addition to dancing, attendees can explore various creative activities in the event’s chill-out area, offering another avenue to honour and process their grief
• Refreshments: Dubrek Studios bar will be offering a range of non-alcoholic beverages to keep the energy flowing
