Community groups awarded nearly £228k in funding

Erewash Borough Council has provided £227,955 in the first round of a new grant scheme, targeted at voluntary and community groups in the borough. In recognition of the fantastic work done by organisations in Erewash, the council set up Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Sustainability and Activation grants, which allowed local groups to apply for between £5,000 to £50,000 so they can set their sights on bigger projects. £2m for new playgrounds to help get kids active

A record sum of almost £2million is to be spent by Erewash council on creating new playgrounds to get children more active. The borough’s leader Cllr James Dawson said the authority’s biggest ever investment in play areas will see the construction of 12 exciting fun zones where tired existing playgrounds have been identified as needing entirely new equipment. Eurovision artwork king sets sights on Erewash

A highly acclaimed artist famed for his large-scale Merseyside mural celebrating Eurovision has been sizing up walls in Erewash – after being commissioned by the council to bring his inspirational magic to three sites in the borough.
