A hair salon group with its headquarters in Long Eaton has announced the signing of a new corporate partnership agreement with Cancer Research UK.
The KH Hair Group, which has its head office and training academy in the town, has committed to raising a minimum of £10,000 throughout 2026, which the charity says will have an enormous impact on its work both across the East Midlands and throughout the UK.
The company has previously supported Breast Cancer Now, the NSPCC’s Childline and, most recently, NHS Charities Together.
Managing director, Darren Messias, says the Group chose to support Cancer Research UK because the work they do is vital in the battle against the disease. “Sadly, one in two of us will be affected by cancer in our lifetime and having members of our team already touched by it makes this cause very close to our hearts,” he explains. “A big thank you in advance to everyone who chooses to donate and support the tremendous work of Cancer Research UK.”
A series of fundraising activities is anticipated throughout 2026, which will include physical challenges, raffles, themed fun days and many more initiatives. They will work with the charity’s regional relationship managers to align with its annual campaigns including Walk All Over Cancer, Stand Up to Cancer, Bowel Cancer Prevention, Breast Cancer Awareness and Mouth Cancer Action.
Becky Elphick, regional relationship manager for Cancer Research UK, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Cancer Research UK is their charity partner for 2026. Our vision is to bring about a world where everyone can lead longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer and, thankfully, we are making progress every day.
“Over the last 50 years, cancer survival in the UK has doubled. In the 1970s just one in four people survived their disease. Today, two in four survive. However, we know we need to go much further and much faster. We hope to accelerate this progress and see three in four people surviving their disease by 2034, and the money raised in 2026 will really help us achieve this.”
