Long Eaton Police officers have taken action after a bike was seen being ridden both anti-socially and dangerously in New Tythe Street in the town before being seized.

A statement from the local safer neighbourhood team said such illegal motorised bikes are not just a nuisance when they are being ridden illegally and irresponsibly, but can cause a significant concern for residents and put pedestrians and other road users at risk.

The statement said that numerous complaints were received about the matter from members of the community and that officers had been taking action when it is safe to do so.

There was also a response to those who had been commenting on social media, asking why motoring offences receive a focus when there are other crimes to deal with.

The statement thanked those that continue to make reports and provide information to help keep Long Eaton Safe and said: “The reality is that of course we also attend other incidents, medical emergencies and community events.”
