Thanks have been offered to members of the public for help in providing information which has assisted in securing and executing warrants through the courts. The message has been issued after a combined operation between Ilkeston and Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team officials, who were supported by those from the Dog Unit to apply a drugs warrant at two addresses in Ilkeston on 24th August 2026. The name of a spectacular new bridge across the Erewash Canal has been officially unveiled ahead of its opening next month. It will be called West Park Bridge – since it connects the centre of Long Eaton to the town’s much-loved sprawling park. Rail travellers suffer major weekend disruption due to power outage

Rail travellers faced significant disruption at the weekend with CrossCountry left to encourage passengers to check before making journeys, after a power outage affected its control centre. The issue resulted in major disruption across the network including covering Long Eaton Railway Station which has services running through it to Nottingham, Birmingham New Street and Cardiff Central. A borough bus service has been saved following the intervention of the regional Mayor, Erewash MP and two local councillors, including a former borough Mayor. £2m for new playgrounds to help get kids active

A record sum of almost £2million is to be spent by Erewash council on creating new playgrounds to get children more active. The borough’s leader Cllr James Dawson said the authority’s biggest ever investment in play areas will see the construction of 12 exciting fun zones where tired existing playgrounds have been identified as needing entirely new equipment. Erewash mill flats plan set for rejection

The planned conversion of an historic Derbyshire mill is set for rejection due to the negative impact on a neighbouring business and flats being deemed too small. Bridge Mills, which faces the Erewash Canal off Derby Road and Bridge Street in Long Eaton, is the subject of plans to convert the former facility into 80 flats. Major repair scheme for Harrington Bridge over the River Trent
