Police officers from the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Team on patrol have used systems available on the move to target a vehicle highlighted as being related to drugs activity.
The action, taken on 6th July by PC Ramshaw and PCSO Cooper saw them use local knowledge of the road network to find the vehicle just outside Sandiacre, where the vehicle was stopped without any pursuit required at the Nottinghamshire border.
The male driving the car was searched under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, where a substantial amount of class A drugs and cash were found. The male, aged 34, was arrested for possession and intent to supply class A drugs, he was then quickly taken into police custody.
A section 18 search was then carried out at an address in Nottinghamshire, to which the male was linked. Inside after the search of the property officers found more class A drugs, along with weapons and cash.
Speaking about the arrest, PC Ramshaw said, "I noticed this vehicle driving a suspicious route around Sandiacre and the Notts border and was determined to find out what the vehicle was up to. Myself and PCSO Cooper, got ourselves into a great position to intercept the vehicle and as soon as we saw the vehicle we made sure we stopped the vehicle safely."
"Myself and the team are committed to making Erewash a safer place, if we get information that someone is dealing harmful drugs on our streets we will act and take drugs and weapons off the streets; also seizing cash made from nefarious criminal activity."
The investigation has been continuing.
