Report: This week’s match must have been one of the coldest we have endured this year.  The temperature did not go above 2 °C all day, and coupled with the strong NNW wind, it proved a real endurance test.

The weather also affected sport as all anglers struggled for indications, resulting in low catches, many contestants not bothering to wait for the scales, and only seven weighing in catches at the end.

As usual, the payout was for the overall winner, and then (by default) the top two on each side of the lake.

Paul Reynolds was quite content to draw peg B12, where he expected to target bream on the pole.  Although he caught 9-01 of bream, the bulk of his catch consisted of 39-06 of carp, half coming on his pole and pellet tactic, the rest on bomb and pellet, his 48-07 total making him a clear overall winner.

John Lack (peg B21) appeared to be in for a lean day.  He persevered with the bomb and pellet, carp appeared in the final hour, and he caught around seven fish for 40-08 to take second overall, to win the B bank pool.

Andy Findlay drew the same peg as last week, A19, and had to endure the wind directly in his face all day.  By switching his method feeder to the left and the right, he winkled out six carp for 37-03 for third overall, more importantly, winning the A bank pool.  Close behind was Pete Stockwin.  On peg A13, Pete opted to fish the bomb all day, and by casting around and switching baits between bread and corn, he also managed to tempt six carp for 34-03, to take fourth overall and second on the A bank.

John Adamson (peg A11) had three carp on the method feeder for 25-3 for fifth overall, but no prize, while Gaz Kitch (peg B3), who had the wind “off his back”, had 23-07 on bomb and pellet for sixth place and second in the B bank pool.

Many thanks to Paul Reynolds and the Fin for their scale work, enabling a quick weigh-in and getaway.

NB.  Nisa Opens are held most Wednesdays on Lake Two at Makins Fishery (see Facebook "Nisa - midweek open matches" to book a place).
