Report: Despite the poor weather forecast, the match was another sell-out, and after it had rained during the first hour, a mixture of sun and cloud emerged, which was quickly pushed through by the brisk NW wind.  The payout was to the overall winner and then (by default) to the top two weights on each bank (A and B).

Like most anglers on the day, John Adamson on peg A18 experienced a relatively slow start to the match.  Fishing with a method feeder and alternating between his margins and deep water (against the rope), he had three fish in the first hour and then nothing for the next. Suddenly, the carp became interested in his bait (wafter) and he caught decent fish (from 5 to 11 lbs) at intervals for the remainder of the match to end with 102-01 and the match win.

On A 14, Sam Collett also found that the method feeder worked best, and after a slow start, he also caught steadily for his weight of 97-03, rueing a lost fish just before the end that cost him the match.  Sam was second overall and won the A bank pool.

Shane Sayers (A20) caught 4 early carp (on the pole fished shallow) and then failed to catch again until the final two hours, when the fish re-appeared and he caught fish again both shallow and then from his margins for third place overall and second on the A bank with 86-03.

Barry Gabriel on A15 filled fourth place overall with 53-02 caught mainly from his margin on the pole, Gaz Kitch (B13) in fifth and taking first place on the B bank with a method feeder caught 42-05, ahead of Gavin James (A6) who caught most of his 41-15 in the first hour on the method feeder before his swim died.

Seventh placed Peter Stockwin (B19) took second place on the B bank with his 6 carp catch of 39-10, again the method feeder being successful.

Many thanks to Andy Findlay for operating the scales at the weigh-in.

NB. Nisa Opens are held most Wednesdays on Lake Two at Makins Fishery (see Facebook "Nisa - midweek open matches" to book a place).
