Report: Although it was a little cooler this week, and with a welcome NW breeze, the lake again fished well, with the winner recording the highest weight of the year in a Nisa Midweek Open, 233 pounds and 6 ounces.
There was another decent turnout, so the payout was to the overall winner, and then (by default) to the top two weights on each bank (A and B).
Visiting the venue for the first time, Tony Brookes (peg B21) enjoyed a day to remember. Fishing with the pellet waggler, Tony caught (all carp) from start to finish to end with 233-06 for a clear win to take the overall pool.
On the opposite bank on peg A11, Shane Sayers continued his great run of performances, unfortunately, to fill second place yet again. Shane fished with the bomb and pellet to catch decent carp throughout the day for his best, ending with a superb weight of 178-09, a weight only exceeded three times this year in the Nisa Opens. That win cannot be far away, Shane! As consolation, he collected first place in the A bank pool.
On the B bank on peg B14, John Adamson fished the first four hours of the match for around three pounds in weight, one bream, before sport picked up. By alternating between feeder long, feeder short and pole, he caught several carp and four more bream to end with 65-05 for third place. And to take first place in the B bank pool.
Chris Wayte (peg A13) caught 62-00 of carp on bomb and pellet for fourth place (and second in the A bank pool), with Andy Findlay (peg B1) in fifth with 57-12 to take second in the B bank pool. Andy alternated between a pellet waggler and the bomb and pellet.
Many thanks to all who assisted with the weight in.
NB. Nisa Opens are held most Wednesdays on Lake Two at Makins Fishery (see Facebook "Nisa - midweek open matches" to book a place).
