07/09/2022: A wide range of community groups, clubs, local charities, and non-profit organisations have had a cash boost thanks to the Derbyshire Grants scheme since it was launched by Derbyshire County Council back in January. 
02/09/2022: West Hallam Village Show is being held on Saturday 3rd September from 1:00pm to 4:30pm at West Hallam Village Hall. There will be over 170 entries available to view including fruit & veg, baking, crafts, preserves, art and photography, plus there will also be a pop up café with delicious cakes. Entry to this is £1 per person.

14/06/2022: The Friends of Straw's Bridge, West Hallam are looking for new recruits to join the group.
06/06/2022: Cyclists of all abilities are welcome to attend weekly social bike rides through the borough. The route is a 10 mile flat ride perfect for admiring the local blooms and wildlife, starting and ending at the Straw’s Bridge Local Nature Reserve in West Hallam, Ilkeston. Everybody can join in for some gentle exercise every Monday from approximately 6.45pm to 8.30pm. 
06/05/2022: Derbyshire County Council Cabinet has agreed to permanently close seven Derbyshire County Council care homes including two in Erewash, which require major refurbishment to bring them up to modern care standards.
27/04/2022: An outbreak of avian influenza has been confirmed in a backyard flock at a premises in Erewash.
