12/06/2018: In 1978 the intrepid ladies of the West Hallam Flower Club set to work to follow the ancient Derbyshire craft of Well Dressing.  Every year since West Hallam has held a Well Dressing Festival and this year marks the 40th anniversary.

08/05/2018: Derby College Sports student Justin Taylor-Tipton (17) from West Hallam recently returned from Switzerland with a clutch more medals in Freestyle Skiing.
15/01/2018: West Hallam Cricket Club are on the lookout for sponsors from the local community for the 2018 season.  The volunteer-run club, which has two senior teams as well as a further two juniors teams and has plans to expand to three for 2018, also plays a major role in village life, hosting community events such as the recent bonfire night event which welcomed a record turn out.
25/10/2017: The Mayor of Erewash, Councillor Mary Hopkinson, will officially raise a Green Flag at the three sites in the borough that have been confirmed as among the best in the country.
