Public Transport during the Coronavirus outbreak (updates will appear here as they become known)

  • Trains: Providing that you are travelling for a legitimate reason, Cross Country, East Midlands Railway and Northern Rail services passing through the borough are running signficantly amended timetables and in some cases, no service.  Check before you travel by contacting the service provider, or alternatively by visiting or call 08457 484950.  You can also visit and follow
  • Bus travel: Providing that you are travelling for a legitimate reason, Derbyshire Gold Card users can travel free-of-charge before 9:30am - a temporary lifting of restrictions.  All operators have agreed to honour this.  There is more on this story here.
  • trentbarton timetable changes were made from Sunday 22nd and 29th March to ensure that it can continue to operate for as long as the pandemic lasts.  Further changes apply from April 1st in response to feedback - these will better suit key worker shift times at hospitals and distribution centres.   The new timetables continue to focus resources on providing vital services to maintain the most important travel links.
    Some routes no longer run Monday to Saturday and others are running with reduced frequencies. 
    • NO service on the Black Cat - the alternative services are the 21 between Ilkeston and Heanor and the Ilkeston Flyer between Ilkeston and Derby.
    • Reduced service on the Ilkeston Flyer (every 30 minutes), i4 (every 30 minutes running from Nottingham to Sandiacre only),Indigo (every 30 minutes, hourly to Derby), My15 (hourly - Ilkeston to Sawley only - connect with the Skylink Nottingham service from Long Eaton to reach East Midlands Airport) and The Twos (hourly service)

  • Flights: Work is underway to repatriate UK residents currently stranded abroad.  All non-essential travel is discouraged.
