Erewash Borough Council is reaching out to residents to help move forward with a wide number of options in how people can engage and carry out their business 24 hours every day of the week. 
- Canal Vue Care Home, Awsworth Road, Ilkeston
Staff at an Ilkeston care home have expressed their excitement after announcing plans for its latest community initiative - the creation of a reminiscence area inspired by the vibrant culture and style of the 1960s. 
More dates have been added to the popular Dementia friendly walk events.
Ilkeston Brass are an enthusiastic and ambitious 4th section brass band, based on the Nottingham/Derby border.  They are keen to recruit new cornet and tuned percussion players and rehearse on Sunday and Thursday evenings in their dedicated band room at Stanton-by-Dale. Tea, Laughter and Cake (TLC) is a friendly group open to everyone on Monday afternoons from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Kirk Hallam Community Centre on Kenilworth Drive. Kirk Hallam. Pop along for a chat and a giggle - as well as free cakes!

The Sandiacre Lock Cottages are open for visitors on the third Sunday of each month and Bank Holidays until November 2023 from 10:30am to 3:30pm. There are also special openings on other dates across weekdays and Sundays for organised groups. For more details, please contact Glyn Stendon on 07809 251441 or by e-mail to glynstenson @ hotmail.com. Admission to the cottages is free - refreshments are available and dogs are welcome. Please note that, due to the historic nature of the cottages which were built in 1779, access for disabled people is limited and some parts are inaccessible to wheelchairs or to people unable to climb steep stairs. Donations towards the cost of opening the cottages are appreciated.

Community Networks in Erewash are run in Cotmanhay, the Petersham area of Long Eaton, plus in Sawley, Sandiacre and Kirk Hallam. The networks hold regular meetings for groups, organisations and residents, and aim to improve health and wellbeing by welcoming new members interested in: Activities include those regarding running or starting a community group, sharing ideas for community activities, finding out about those community activities and offering support to their community. - St. Mary's Church, Long Eaton
The New Youth Café runs at St. Mary's Church in Long Eaton every Tuesday evening from 6:45pm to 8:00pm for 10 to 14 year olds and all are welcome.  Drop in, bring your friends or meet new ones.  Join them for luxury hot chocolate, toast, games, crafts and other fun activities.
The Friends of Straw's Bridge are looking for new recruits to join the group. The Friends are a group of volunteers who take an interest in promoting, developing and improving the Erewash Borough Council owned nature reserve for visitors and wildlife. Regular meetings are held and members organise activities and events at Straw's Bridge throughout the year. If you would like to become a 'Friend or find out more about the site you can contact the group via facebook.com/strawsbridge.  Straw's Bridge is on High Lane, West Hallam. It has a free car park for visitors and access to the Nutbrook Trail for walkers and cyclists.
