The area for which the dispersal order has been applied
A dispersal order has been put in place for Long Eaton Town Centre following increased reports of anti-social behaviour.
The Section 34 notice was approved to run from 4:10pm on Tuesday 17th February until midnight on Wednesday 18th February, covering the area pictured.
It means local officers have the power to ask a group of two or more people to leave the dispersal area if they are committing anti-social behaviour, or if officers believe they may, or are likely to, cause a nuisance to someone else.
The decision to introduce the order follows a recent increase in calls about large gatherings and anti-social behaviour centred around Waverley Street and the McDonalds restaurant.
Anybody committing an offence who refuses this order can be arrested and fined up to £2,500 and/or receive a three-month prison sentence.
Sergeant Taylor of the Erewash Policing Unit, said: “The dispersal has been issued to help prevent further reports of anti-social behaviour and to give officers increased powers to target these reports.
“We give careful consideration when introducing these orders to ensure they are absolutely necessary, and they are used to help us ease community concerns and take action on those intent on disrupting the public and local businesses.”
Anyone witnessing any anti-social behaviour can report it through any non-emergency route including calling 101, or by using Derbyshire Police social media or their website.
