A man who fought with others in a pub brawl and later attacked police officers has been jailed for more than five years.
The door supervisors at The Borough Arms in Ilkeston flagged down officers to tell them there had been a fight at the venue in the early hours of Sunday 20th July last year.
Violence had erupted when Zac Creighton reportedly threw down a lighter onto the floor after borrowing it from another man.
He then knocked one man to the floor and threw a glass into the face of another who stepped in to break up the trouble.
Both victims required hospital treatment as a result of the attack.
Officers approached Creighton and he tried to run away.
At some point during the chase he also threw a punch at the head of one of the officers, causing a black eye.
He was detained and provided a short statement claiming he had been hit and was acting in self-defence before answering no comment to further questions.
The 33-year-old, formerly of Main Street, Horsley Woodhouse, was charged with Section 18 wounding with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assaulting a police officer.
He was also charged with theft for a separate crime of stealing two tractors from a business in Pinxton on Wednesday 8 January.
A metal security guard inside the vehicles was removed so they could be driven away from the site.
But Creighton’s fingerprints were discovered by officers on the guard, leaving to his arrest.
He pleaded guilty to all charges and was jailed for a total of five years and six months during a sentencing hearing at Derby Crown Court on Tuesday 10th March.
