Erewash MP, Adam Thompson has expressed significant disappointed at Lloyds Bank’s decision to close its Ilkeston branch on November 5th 2026. This is just the latest in a string of commercial banks abandoning our high streets. One in five people still rely on in-person banking, disproportionately including the elderly and disabled. Deputy Mayor unveils ‘suicide prevention’ bench in park

A touching memorial to local people who have taken their own lives has been unveiled in an Erewash park – in the form of a bench that grieving families and friends hope will help deter others from suicide. Appeal for information launched following two linked robberies in Ilkeston

Derbyshire Police officers are appealing for information following two robberies in Ilkeston that are believed are linked. The first incident happened when the victim was approached by a man as he walked past a block of flats in Chalons Way at about 10:05pm on Sunday 31st May. A 29-year old from Ilkeston is set to compete in the Manx Grand Prix in August on the Isle of Man, which covers the same famous 37 mile mountain course used by the TT race. E-scooter seizures continue in Derbyshire

Derbyshire Police officers continue to seize illegal scooters on county roads, with 31 escooters confiscated in April - the equivalent of one taken off the streets every day.
