Derby College Group is proud to celebrate the exceptional talent, dedication and innovation of its teaching staff at the Teacher, Trainer and Assessor Awards, recently held at The Roundhouse.

The awards recognise outstanding educators who go above and beyond to inspire learners, raise aspirations and deliver excellence across further education. Spanning a wide range of curriculum areas, including Health and Social Care, English, Animal Care, Floristry, Built Environment and Adult Learning, the awards shine a spotlight on the transformative power of teaching.

At the heart of the awards is a commitment to recognising best practice. Nominations are made by Advanced Teacher Practitioners following rigorous observation, collaboration with curriculum teams and feedback from students. The result is a powerful celebration of educators who are making a real difference every day.

Among the standout nominees is Pam Ogle, Floristry teacher, recognised for her exceptional apprenticeship delivery. Pam combines technical expertise with real-world industry relevance, embedding sustainability into every aspect of her teaching. Her learners demonstrate high levels of engagement, curiosity and confidence, with her approach helping to shape not just skilled florists but forward-thinking professionals ready for a changing industry.

His forward-thinking approach encourages independence, engagement and inclusivity, while his commitment to professional development continues to inspire colleagues across the college.

These awards are more than recognition. They reflect a culture of excellence that places students at the centre of everything. The impact is clear in improved learner outcomes, increased confidence and stronger pathways into employment and further study.

Catherine Guerrero, Head of Teaching and Learning Development, said: “I am incredibly proud of the colleagues recognised through our Teacher, Trainer and Assessor Awards. These awards celebrate the very best of our practice, the dedication, innovation and compassion that shape powerful learning experiences for our students every day.

“Our winners remind us that excellent teaching is not just about what happens in the classroom. It is about the belief, ambition and care that help our students thrive. Their commitment inspires us all, and I am excited to continue championing this culture of excellence as we look ahead to the next phase of awards in summer 2026.”

Derby College Group’s mission is to celebrate and elevate exceptional teaching across the organisation continually.
