Big Farmland Bird Count 2026: a new digital platform makes counting easier
The national annual census of farmland birds, run by the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) and supported by the NFU, is returning in February next year when it will be launched from its birthplace, the Trust’s demonstration farm, the Allerton Project.

Parents can now apply to Derbyshire County Council for their child’s infant or primary school place for September 2026. Applications for children who were born between 1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022 opened on Monday 10th November and will close at midnight on Thursday 15th January 2026.
